WWWSSR MUSIC SUBMISSION POLICY
Programming for WWWSSR 87.7 FM is for the R&B, Soul, Poetry, Neo-Soul, Funk, and Gospel, with specially selected Rap and Hip-Hop. Our Director of Communications and Programming Associate are chiefly responsible for bringing in New Music to add to our Playlist, or receiving and sorting through New Submissions for Programming sake. Weekends and Mix Shows are a broader variety and can be additionally be submitted.
Programming for SSR Internet Radio is format based, with multiple popular genres and new innovations in music. Our Internet Radio Channels cover a wider variety of Genre content and any submissions that fit such Genres are appropriately forwarded to the particular format applicable.
New submissions are accepted and reviewed the first Tuesday of every month only. We attempt to review 25-50 songs with a minimum of Twelve (12) songs being selected each month to add to our 87.7 playlist in light rotation. Each song must earn it’s way into Heavy rotation in one of a few manners. First the growth and exposure of an artist and the more visible an artist becomes enhances the necessity to air the song with more frequency. This means carefully strategized promotional campaigns will enforce the need for more airplay. If there are over 100 requests for a song this makes it eligible for additional airplay therefore it may move from light rotation to Standard rotation. Heavy rotation is specifically for artists and entertainment companies who’ve properly prepared the promotional activities to earn media attention.
It’s always a plus to get your material into the hands of resident Club DJ’s and radio On-Air personalities and Mixshow DJ’s.
Overall as a general rule of thumb nothing beats a great song! A great song makes everyone who hears it want to listen to it and share it with others. Keep in mind those who work at radio stations are people too. There are still Program Directors in smaller markets, College Radio, Community Radio, and/or DJ’s and On-Air personalities in larger markets who still play what they want so a great song with your proper promotional efforts will find it’s way into Heavy rotation!
